The new curriculum will centre on the topics of forest resource management, sustainable forest economics, transformation governance, land-use conflicts and environmental policy and innovation. Students will learn current ecological and economic aspects of a sustainable forest-based bioeconomy. They develop technical skills and a practical understanding of the types and impacts of resource use in forest ecosystems, ecosystem services and assiociated value chains. The curriculum builds capacity to develop options for the sustainable deployment of forest resources through innovative management concepts, financial incentive systems and ccoperative governance strategies.
The new curriculum will include experiential field and research based learning opportunities through designation of university forest or agroforestry plots for long-term stand monitoring, research and online simulation of various harvest and management applications using Marteloscopes and DSS software.
